The DVD interface
I simply love simple things that I've learn from school.
I made this one based on the last lesson that, in my mind, was really interesting and lovely.
I chose serif font with old-fashioned style which could somehow describe the meaning of the "short flash".
My idea for design a friendly looking menu to users.

Pharaon

I have studied ablout creating a "fake exploded".
Here... things come suddenly... I remember this was long time ago when I was reading "A beautiful comic books name The Egypt Queen.
The idea of a film about Pharaoh came into my mind.
I used yellow and brown for a formal looking.
An eagle as a simple of strength and freedom.
Also, the sarif old-fashioned typography was used to illustrate the history, the past.

The youth workers
Low salary, bad protecting service and wrong social justice for them. In his graphic design poster, we see a young boy writing the line "That's unequal.". More than one font is used to describe his idea. Font for "That's" is serif and bold while "unequal" has san-serif font and looks like scripts.
We can read the unity of the elements once put together. The while scale behind the boy, telephone, the paper he's writing on and the text represent for industrial environment.
There's a red map which occupies about 3/4 of the background. It may be a part of Africa map.
His eyes seem to be tired and soulless, and the face is full of worry. Albert might want to raise his voice to defend the young workers force.

Strength of youth
After persuading my brother to cooperate with me, I took some nude pictures of him.
Many difficult things happen that bring a young boy up. I want to illustrate a man picture inside a “still-boy” face.
This work is the combination of wavy lines, smooth area and the rough one. I used smudge tool to create waves like smoke with light green color.
The free background makes the main information stand out. What is more, the color level which is used in the boy body and the dragon yin-yang generate the unity of youth and strength.

Storm Eye
Eye Storm is the name of this posterAgain, with the collage concepts, I have an idea of an eye of the storm. Storm which belongs to Mother Nature is an accepted phenomenon. Whether it is controlled by someone or not, we still live with it.
We can see a blurry image of a dragon in the top right and bottom left which describes the power behind. Chinese dragon with its gaudy body is the foundation for me to manage the colors of the whole picture. However, I use color level with “dimmer” quality.

Heart and Life
(The picture has been resized for faster uploading)
This is such a busy week with 3 assignments for three courses.
But still I want to make my entries meaningful, have some connect to my real life, and not just like paying back to Maddy...
I have been studied collage and its meaning in class. Therefore, I want to choose this topic for my 2 works.
I have a picture of a heart and a leaf. My idea is strength of life in heart. Hence, I’m now coming up with 2 small pieces, my green leaf will represent for the strength of life which is put inside the heart.
Is it the magic power when life is, in fact, very bit and cruel but people can overcome and live happily? Once heart can beat, everything happens. Once it stops, life stops.
I choose purple and blue colors to talk about sweet and “romantic” mental stuffs, the symbol of heart and leaf when being put together can identify something special.

Junk List design work
They are posted as an advertising purpose of a team named Junk List. Here are 3 of their business card.
Based on the black background, every color has dark tone. Green, blue, pink and yellow are the four main color.
They used many lines width different type, thick lines for the main text "Junk List", thinner lines for the wavy curves.
It is quite balance in the first picture. An eagle looks like wearing a hat of cloud and sun. Around it having something like decoration or thunder
However, in the second picture, there may be too much information putting in the same area that makes us feel "narrow". In my opinion, it will be better if it has more free space. most of the main information stay in the left hand side. And again, something looks like decoration or thunder or some drawing strokes.
We see some circle with a lot of colors. Beside them, there are flower branches.
I don't think they are excellent designed business cards, but I love the way the use their colors together.

Layout for Loving web...
When thinking of love, we imagine something red, sweet and romantic… Me too.
I have a picture of a little Cupid on my mind. He uses his arrow to “kill” everyone’s heart.
The red heart represent for something exciting and hot.
However, to be fallen into love is like different “state”. Things become more beautiful than ever before. That’s why Vietnamese people call lovers “purple people”.
Although many troubles happen at unexpected times, we still have a reason to stand up and keep on believing. Is it the magic power of love?
I create this layout based on many reasons. Some of them are mentioned above, some I cannot express by word. This is a "handmade" template for love topic.
I hope that by my amateur design, you can understand my point.

Diary cover designing
I've joint the competition to study something...
This is my latest "product" which is saved in two kind of color mode, RGB and CMYK.
This composition is the combination of lines, texture and movement.
Several layers can be seen through each other. In the same “mass”, for instance, we can see various levels of opacity in the same yellow curvy wave.
There is pattern of check.
The three main colors, red, yellow and blue are used with different saturations. Red and yellow elements represent for boats and the sun. Blue is for the pure ocean.
“Hot” colors red and yellow go with the “cool” one, blue keep the balance “temperature” of the whole picture.

The "S"

This idea has been coming up for a long time whenever I thought of my name.
It means Summer in English.
I wasn't born in summer, but how much Mom loves me, that much she calls my name.
She said it was the season of light and hope; It was leaves color; It has the strength of fire and the warmth of sun.
They are wishes from the best mother to her child.
The "S", the name of my new entry, can represent for some special things related to me.
S: Summer
S: Smart. uhm...a little bit, just sometimes, luckily, I can understand some definite things that may be hard to other people.
S: Stupid. ah yes, it's in the rest of time that hasn't mentioned in the second S.
S: Sexy. You may at least once can be proud to say that you're attractive to someone, me too...
S: Stubborn. When I decided to do anything which I "want to" or "need to", no matter how wrong or crazy it might be, I do it.
I've made my "S" in Photoshop.
It looks quite simple. However, there are actually a number of layers behind this result.
Using the simple black "S" first, creating some duplicate layers and then "move" them.
Next, bluring effects are used; I try to make the border as much "impressive" as I can...
For my main purpose, an entry representing the summer, I point out some "strong" colors, such as red, yellow, orange based on the dark background.

The beauty of time
These beautiful ladies are the result of my Photoshop (PS) work.
It is actually two pictures of one lady. She is Song Hye Kyo, a Korean star.
Her beauty is the combination of history and modern, which is definitely attract any eye from the first time seeing her.
I used green light for the effect. That color is the factor that makes her goes with the empty dark space around.
I use some light effects that make her become the center of the picture. It makes her “darker” and more impressive.
I also choose a “romantic” font for the text below. It is flying with her with her beauty.
The beauty does not only go from her face and body, but it also comes from the way she looks at us. It is attractive look, “week challenging” eyes of Asian woman, I think…
She wears some old-fashioned necklace competing with a “free” hairstyle.

Children magazine page

I intended to use Illustrator for the entry this time.
This is a magazine page which has pink as the main color.
Light pink represent for cuteness and children world.
We can see the “free” space on the left-hand side.
There a small picture of a cute boy in the middle of the square rounded text.
The whole text builds a sharp of a house where Mama’s Pride is the proof.
I choose serif font for the body text and script font for the title.
This script font makes the title look active and immature. It is appropriate with the kids.
The white circles which are shining like the brightness of the sun.
The smart and confident look of the child is the pride of any mother.
It is the link between the small picture and the title.

My 5 ideas for the moon...
I used hot color to make this “moon”.
Red and yellow are standing for Sun and Moon.
Black is for the dark.
Sun goes off when the dark starts to spread out gradually; and when the “flashing” light of Moon flashes.
It looks like a contact lends.
Light gray, black and yellow are used to describe the night.
A slim yellow circle represents for the moon.
Lighter yellow is its light spread out and reaches the gray clouds.
There are clouds cover 4 angles of the picture to say that: it is a cloudy night. Hence, the moon is hidden behind a black circle.
We can feel the cold by the color of the whole image.
Just two colors are used.
Basically, there are two main blue curves that represent for the moon.
They are soft and cool and have the shape of “V’ letter or flying birds.
However, their present seems to stand out the stars around.
The stars are full but they are like being blown away by the “gentle moon”.
A yellow billiard ball is now used to speak the moon’s language.
It is in a hole now, the player scores.
It is shining. We can see it by the flash light going through the first, second and third bars.
The dark background makes our moon stand out.
The distances from one bar to another are difference.
They stand for the clouds.
A haft moon and a mouth.
They are gray.
The first time I made it, I intended to draw clouds beside the moon.
Nevertheless, in the end, I decided to use gray color to describe a “cloud-covered” moon.
The mouth, in some words, stands for the rest half moon.
If we look at our lower lip, it has the half-mooned shape.

Angel
The two angels stay in the opposite positions staring at us…
Having a complex background with yellow, brown and black, the image is impressive by the naked women.
These two “Eve” girls are smooth and curvy.
The light effects, in fact, are not the same in the two.
The left-handed angel is green while the rest is brown.
There seems to be no white space by the full of blurry “liquid”.
It looks like a pair of wings in the middle.
However, it means more than that.
It is what the two nude ladies stand for, the virginity.
God may mean something special while women have “it” as a shape of the wings.
Precious and valuable, especially in Eastern countries, it is WHAT WE HAVE TO KEEP PROTECTING.
Their positions are mostly fit with the curve of the wings. As a result, it makes them like being on the edges of breaking, and that is actually my idea is about, “the gate-watcher of Venus”.
(This is my latest Photoshop product, so there's no source for it... It's resized 9 times smaller)

Red Couch
I saw this image accidentally in a Vietnamese News website.
Having a white background, it is impressive by the long red coach.
There are three men dressed in black and sit in an not-to-formal way.
It is used to talk about working in the industry society.
Our atmosphere is more modern and convenient.
We can feel it by the attitude of the three men.
Zoom it in, each man has his own space to “live” in. We, hence, realize the characteristics of our workplace: modernization and specialization.
However, the change makes life easier and more professional. So it has the positive points.
Zoom it out, it’s like a box, closed and blocked. People seem to be smaller by their huge modern stuff.
To be more sarcastic, we are like living in jail...
The "artificial" sun is the round light which is put in the middle of the red "box".
Nevertheless, we are pleased to choose the modern life rather than the less one. Because we get used to it, and the more important reason is that we need to go forward, not backward.

The box
The picture somehow reflects the poor condition. It gives us many impressive information and ideas.
Why is the little boy put into the box?
Why is the name of this pic the box?
The tragedy often comes in the worse situation. We can read a sad letter from the pic.
Is it right if I say that the author want people think more about the real-tragedy that happen everyday in front of their eyes.
The time this pic appear is Vietnamese-American war.
These are some of what my narrow eyes can see...
I read the information of the boy in the box, no trousers, he is really small, weak and "fragile".
The only thing may "contain" him is the box. He lies by the diagonal
Named The box, this image can stand for more meanings than what it looks like.
This is a black and white picture which concentrates on the main information by making it brightest.
It's like there is a source of light somewhere above the two little boys.
The floor is covered with small cells which are like leaning.
The older boy is touching the younger boy's hand while his face seem to be a bit sad and scared.
I choose this picture for my first post...
I think of children-baggers and the way they try to survive during the blood time with this two little boys.
War ends, but tears and hurts are still in our heart when we look back to the history.
